10th Year Celebration

New and exciting plans are under way for the 10th Annual Re-Enactment of the Long Run Massacre. The Painted Stone Settlers are currently working with Shelby County Parks on a new location. A secluded and wooded spot, part of the newly obtained Red Orchard Park is being considered for the event. With unlimited space and land along Clear Creek it is considered to be a prime location for the group.

In addition to the annual re-enactment of the Long Run Massacre the group plans to also add another re-enactment to the weekend event showcasing the groups 18th century replica cannon along with other revolutionary war era groups.

The main re-enactment occurs at 2:00 PM both days. Gates open to the public at 10:00 AM with day long events. Gates close at 5:00 PM  Admission is $6.00 for adults $3.00 for students and Senior Citizens. In addition there are ongoing mini events all day long. Schedule will be available prior to the event.

Re-Enactors who wish to participate need to register and be juried. Re-Enactors Click Here.

Volunteer help is needed for parking, set up etc. If you wish to volunteer please email Kathy Cummings

Click Here to learn about Red Orchard Park

Red Orchard Park consists of 131 acres donated to the Shelby County Park’s Department by Clarence Miller. The farm had been in his family’s possession since 1925. For more information on the Red Orchard Park site and to view the master plan, go to www.shelbycountyparks.com and click on the “Parks” link. Shelby County Judge-Executive Rob Rothenburger has suggested several acres in the back of the park as a possible future site for the Long Run Massacre & Floyd’s Defeat.

Although there are plans for developing other areas on the donated land this portion of the land would remain a natural habitat for use by groups like the Boy Scouts and The Painted Stone Settlers.

The area would afford a wooded campsite for the native re-enactors.
